PepsiCo’s organic growth accelerates to 3.1% as international volume offsets North America pricing pressure

PepsiCo’s third-quarter organic revenue growth jumped to 3.1%, up from 2.7% year-to-date, driven by volume gains across international markets and Asia Pacific foods in particular. The acceleration marks a departure from the company’s FY2025 trajectory of 2.3% organic growth, though it masks a divergence: North America convenient foods saw volume improve while pricing fell, while international beverages and foods both expanded on volume. The company updated its full-year 2026 guidance, a signal that the nine-month trend has shifted its outlook.

Net revenue rose 5.6% in the quarter to $25,274 million, with organic growth of 3.1% supplemented by a 1.7-percentage-point contribution from acquisitions and divestitures and a 0.7-percentage-point benefit from foreign exchange translation. Year-to-date, net revenue climbed 6.7% to $68,898 million on 2.7% organic growth, plus 2.0 percentage points each from foreign exchange and M&A. Core EPS increased 2% in the quarter and 5% year-to-date, while reported EPS rose 17% and 47% respectively, inflated by favorable mark-to-market gains on commodity derivatives and the absence of prior-year impairment charges on Rockstar and Be & Cheery brands. Core constant currency EPS, which strips currency and one-time items, grew 1.5% in the quarter and 2% year-to-date, the truest measure of underlying operational momentum.

What it means

The quarter reveals a company whose international scale is compensating for North America stagnation. Asia Pacific Foods delivered 9% organic revenue growth year-to-date on 10% volume expansion; Latin America Foods grew 4.5% organically with volume gains; EMEA achieved 7% organic growth. By contrast, PepsiCo Beverages North America, the company’s largest segment, posted only 1% organic revenue growth year-to-date on negative 3% volume, held up by pricing that is now eroding. North America convenient foods showed organic volume growth year-to-date but faced lower effective net pricing, a pattern that suggests pricing elasticity is catching up.

Core operating margin contracted 35 basis points in the quarter and 25 basis points year-to-date despite productivity savings and effective net pricing, because operating cost increases and higher advertising and marketing expenses outpaced those gains. The company flagged “additional structural cost reduction actions” to be implemented in coming months to fund innovation and brand investment aimed at accelerating organic growth. This signals management sees the current trajectory as insufficient and is betting that cost cuts can fund growth initiatives without further margin compression. The honest uncertainty: whether those cost actions will materialize at the scale needed, and whether North America volume can stabilize before pricing power fully evaporates.
